Palazzo Pitti, Giardinio di Boboli, e un Lezione di Cucina

Last Tuesday after class, Madeline, Kaylin, and I headed to the other side of Florence to visit Palazzo Pitti and the Boboli Gardens. The gardens were absolutely incredible, but I did wish that we had visited them the week before... The harsh 100+ degree heat was not kind to all of the flowers!

After walking around the gardens for awhile, we headed inside Palazzo Pitti to see the Paltine Gallery and Royal Apartments. We weren't allowed to take pictures (yes, we got in trouble...), but the gallery was still really neat! I was so excited I got to see the Bartolini Tondo by Fra' Filippo Lippi that I studied in my art history class. It was so much more beautiful in person! After we explored the galleries, we went to the Costume Gallery and got to see how fashion has evolved from the 1300s to now. So many extravagant gowns and crazy outfits!

That evening, we had our second cooking class. We made sformatine vegetariano (vegetable souffle), two types of fettucine (one with a tomato and garlic sauce and the other with ragu meat sauce), and torta al cioccolato for dessert! Everything was so, so good. I'm looking forward to making all of these meals when I come home!
